This Is Happening!
Here I go! I’m at JFK on a one-way ticket to London. Hearing the captain describe our flight plan brings it all home. Next time I cross these waters, it will be on a boat! It still feels surreal.
Before each departure from JFK, I always feel a bit unsettled, unsure if I really want to do this; but then I get to Portsmouth and I’m all in! Level 4 really brought out the competitor in me and I’m excited to race. I don’t know how this is all going to go, I’m not sure it’s the right decision, but there is only one way to find out. I’m going to give it my all and get the most out of every aspect of this race.
As Eleanor Roosevelt once said, “If something thrills you and scares you in equal measure, you should do it”. Well, she didn’t say that exactly, but she did say “Do something every day that scares you”. A random quote on Facebook said “Always be yourself, unless you can be a sailor, then be a sailor”.
Wish me luck! Race starts on September 1st!
